At first, a castle
Voices buried in rubble
At first, a blue skies and seas
Stormy clouds and
a dark whirlpool
We are like fire
Tamed by time
And as half of our lifetime is burnt away
There is no use for charred matchsticks
We see the world change so much
Who is tired of birthdays after birthdays
To the point age becomes taboo
And we stop saying it all together
Youth always loses to time
Like overdried autumn leaves
What is left of innocence
Please don’t leave me anymore
First day of summer holidays after 2 years of university
I am 23 this summer.
Time seems to fly and I realise that things will change next year,
as I am moving out of my college hostel to stay at home.
I won’t see my friends as often anymore, and it is a bittersweet parting.
Sometimes, I wish time doesn’t go so fast, and if it has to,
things do not change so much.
